“It is never too late to get fit; it’s never too late to feel good and confident and change the way you eat and train. Just give it a go and momentum will take you the rest of the way.”
Joe Wicks
Happiness is not something that can only be achieved at a young age. Happiness does not have its limits. It comes to those who give life a chance, regardless of their circumstances, and just give it a go.
I have heard a lot of people who have sighed and sat back in their chairs, stating that ‘it is too late to even try and start out their dreams’ at 40 years old. You are still halfway through your life. There might be some hurdles and obstacles that might hinder your journey, some things that are just out of your control, but you do not give up at the sight of them. You cannot just give up. You just go around those hurdles and make your passion, dreams, and goals come through. And this does not just apply to getting a promotion, it may even be investing in stocks, starting to paint, taking a train to a new city a few miles from you, or simply trying out a new recipe from a different cuisine. No matter how big or small your goals are, just get started! It is never too late to get started on your dreams. If you want proof of those who have made it big or have been successful when they were young or old, I will list it for you:
- Colonel Sanders started KFC at 65 years old
- Nidhi Jain achieved 4 master’s degrees at the age of 58.
- Grandma Moses, famous American folk artist, started painting at age of 76.
- Greta Thunberg has united the youth over the world to protest for climate change, at the age of 16.
- Kelvin Doe began to power houses in his locality using batteries made out of acid, soda and metal at the age of 13.

“I am, you know, really fighting for myself and my life. And I think the message that I could give anybody is that it is never too late to start your life again and dream new dreams.”
– Jennifer Holliday
I believe the fear of possible rejection or failure just pushes us further back and restricts us from actually doing what we want and being who we are. The norms of society force us to behave a certain way at a certain age, for example, a kid should be playing games and doing homework, they should not enter discussions of real-life and topics that they might be interested in, because they are young so they do not know better. People above the age of 40 should be more refined. They cannot act like children anymore, they have responsibilities, they cannot have fun in any manner without fulfilling their rightful duties first.
But we have to break out of that routine, that hurdle that stops us from being who we are. In this generation, kids and teenagers are actually doing things to change the world, they are no longer sitting still and playing games, they are taking interest in topics that are usually deemed ‘adult’. And adults now are acting more like themselves. They are brushing off the expectations of society and doing what they want, playing around with different clothing styles, not getting married or having kids, traveling, and even going back to college to earn that master’s degree! There is no limit to what you can achieve at any point in your life, regardless of age! Just keep on going at it and you will find yourself right where you want to be and happy.
So, now that you might be feeling a little bit more comfortable with the fact that you can restart your life at any point, here are some ways to get started and uplift that goal of yours.

“It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”
– George Elliot
1. Write it down
Starting off, write down what exactly is you want to accomplish or what your goals are. Usually, when they are in our heads, it gets scrambled up with a million different things, and we are never sure what we exactly want out of life. So, note down where you want to bring a change in your life, what habits you want to try out, and a new thing that you always wanted to do.
2. Plan it out
In order for you to actually put action to words, you need to plan it out very carefully, in a manner where you will actually do it. If you work from home, and you finish by 6 pm, then you can put aside one to two hours, to work on your goals. And remember, it is your goal, so it can be whatever you want. If you want to cook a healthy dinner do it then, if you want to start painting do it then. Do not put it off, because then you will never get to it!
Goals do not have a particular timing on a day, where you can do it then only, and when it does not take place in that time period, you cannot do it! It is your life, so make it as flexible as you can. So when you get into a habit of doing it every day, it becomes easier to stick to.
3. Shift the environment of your room
When we are working on our goals or dreams, we need to be motivated to continue to carry them out. So, one can not be energized in an environment that is messy and unorganized, and all over the place. Design your environment up for success.
Organize things, clean up your environment, put up motivating posters or to-do lists on the wall where you can see it every day. With a new and motivating environment, we are naturally influenced to work better and we can think more clearly.
4. Make sure to check up on your mental health as well!
When we try to introduce new habits or bring new changes into our life, it takes some time to adjust and there is a battle in our mind, to slip back into our old way of living. And it can be very uncomfortable and upsetting. So when you feel like you need to sit back and take a breath with all these new changes, do it! It is hard to get used to it when you are trying to do new things to improve your life! It is alright to sit back for a bit, but not for too long! Take care of your mental health throughout this process of achieving your dreams. Never keep your health on the backside.
5. Keep your rhythm!
Once you have gotten used to this new change in life, whether it be exercising every day or taking one hour to come up with new business ideas, it is very important to keep it that way. Do not break your rhythm in the first month. You might just lose all the motivation and hard work that you have put in, by deciding to put it off till tomorrow. Stick to your rhythm!
“The path you take is up to you. Make good choices, dream big, it is never too late.”
